Hooked on Books

On Thursday, 19th August 2021, Hooked on Books visited our school to entertain our learners and get them hooked on books!

As well as getting some educational entertainment, the learners also got to wear civvies and received a little snack.

Who is Hooked on Books?

Hooked on Books is an educational theatre company that performs for pre-primary and primary schools.

“The Hooked on Books team dramatise “book-trailers” from contemporary children’s books, which change on an annual basis. The book-trailers provide a visual, dramatic preview of the book similar to that of a movie trailer. By leaving the story at a nail-biting cliff-hanger [they] entice the learners to make a beeline for the library to find out how the story ends.”

“With [their] strong emphasis on audience participation, [they] succeed in drawing the ever-so-eager audience into the pages of a good book. The shows are hilarious, dramatic, thrilling and educational.”

Which shows did our learners get to experience?

The team presented 3 books to each group including a poetry book and spent about 15-20mins performing.
